Celebrated Ethiopian singer, songwriter, music producer, lyricist, and performer Hailu Amerga is set to release his long-awaited first solo album, “Ahun,” on October 31, 2025, exclusively on his official YouTube channel.

The title Ahun — meaning “Now” in Amharic — symbolizes both presence and renewal. For Hailu, the project marks a defining moment in his musical journey, blending the experience of his early career with the creative independence of a solo artist.

Before embarking on his solo path, Hailu Amerga rose to prominence as one of the key vocalists of the legendary Ethiopian fusion group Jano Band, known for its powerful blend of rock, reggae, and Ethiopian traditional sounds. His distinctive voice and dynamic stage presence helped the band become one of the most influential modern acts in Ethiopia’s contemporary music history. After the group eventually split, Hailu began focusing on developing his individual artistry and sound.

Since then, he has released several successful singles, including fan favorites that highlight his lyrical sensitivity and melodic style. His music explores themes of love, self-reflection, and resilience, earning him a loyal following both in Ethiopia and among the diaspora.

With Ahun, Hailu brings together everything he’s learned from years of performance and production — a fusion of Afrobeat, R&B, and Ethiopian traditional influences that reflect both his roots and his evolution as an artist. The album is fully self-produced, showcasing his versatility and meticulous approach to songwriting.

As the release date approaches, excitement continues to build. For Hailu Amerga, Ahun isn’t just a debut — it’s the culmination of a journey from band frontman to independent artist, and a bold step toward defining his voice for a new musical era.
